The trumpet blare of ‘The Last Post’ echoed through the gymnasium at John Paul II Collegiate on Remembrance Day.
Hundreds of Battlefords residents gathered to pay their respects for those who served in the military and lost their lives in the line of duty. Local Second World War veteran, Ed Smith was recognized for a prestigious honor at the ceremony. He received the French Legion of Honour medal – the highest French order of merit for military and civil servants, established in 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte.
