Do you ever wake up and find that your arm is asleep? This happens to me and I hate it. Working through the stages seems to take forever in the middle of the night. If you’ve never felt it I’ll walk you through it.
Step 1. Discovery
You kind of wake up to roll over and realize you just can’t quite do it… something is in the way. It’s your arm.
Step 2. Panic
That moment or two where you wonder if your previous struggle has damaged your arm. “OMG I may have just broken my arm while I was trying to roll over on top of it”.
Step 3. The Body-Heave-Arm-Flop
You decide that you have to move that giant rubbery hunk of humanity so you kind of heave from the shoulder, and inevitably you heave too hard and toss your dead arm up through the air and it comes down right on top of you. It’s always a surprise how heavy that thing really is.
Step 4. The Tingles
As the blood flow slowly returns to your arm the nerves start to CRACKLE back to life. It’s at this point that it feels like your arm is a giant piece of bacon being fried to a crisp, all sizzlin’-and-a-poppin’-and-a-whatnot.
Step 5. Revival
Finally your arm feels normal again and you make a promise to yourself to never sleep on that arm again… so you roll over on top of the other one….. It’s a vicious circle.
